Description

The old drive from Killerton to the Columbjohn Chapel continued in use when the Acland family moved to Killerton in 1680. It became the processional route for funerals after the building of Killerton Chapel in 1841, and went out of use in the early 20c. On the 1756 map it is drawn as an avenue lined with trees. There is nothing visible on the ground and the field has been ploughed frequently (see site no. 107408/12).
