Description
The entry in the county sites and monuments record quotes A.E. Shapland - 'There was a mansion called 'Francis Court' in Broadclyst. The Francises lived there and owned large estates. Not a trace of the mansion remains: there is only a farmhouse there now.' The Francis Court farmhouse dates back to the late medieval period and a previous dwelling must have existed, but the history of the manors of Broadclyst has not yet been fully explored, and until it has, this site remains only a possibility.
Nothing on the farm suggested a mansion or large house site.
