Description

(1) (2) A small farm cottage built by Sir Thomas Dyke Acland, XIth baronet, when he had taken the farm in hand as the 'home farm'. It probably housed the dairyman, providing the milk for Killerton House. It has fish-scale tiles on the roof, these were also used on some of the Francis Court farm buildings. It is one of the last farm cottages built of stone. The interior has two main ground floor rooms. In the 20c a part of the adjoining farm building (B.2) has been adapted for use by the occupants of the cottage.

(3) These cottages are on the same site and follow the same alignment as the cottages recorded as 169357, but as these were not built until 1875 it is not clear whether the cottages described in (3) were an earlier precursor or whether this is in fact a mistake.
