Summary

The Orange House, or Orangery, located at the North end of the Orange Garden. First shown on 1706 mapping, replaced in 1720 and pulled down by 1779. Part of the 18th century formal gardens at Petworth. No evidence of this building was recorded during field survey.

Description

The Orange House, or Orangery, located at the North end of the Orange Garden, a rectangular building c. 6mx27m. First shown on 1706 mapping (1), replaced in 1720 (2) and pulled down by 1779 (3). Part of the 18th century formal gardens at Petworth.
