Description
A few pieces of flint were picked up in field O.S.no. 0067, which had been ploughed, rolled and harrowed when it was walked in 1999.Five people, including three volunteers, walked the field from north to south and return, walking about 2.5m/3m apart. The flints were not diagnostic, they are listed in the Finds Book. Condition: fair. [1]
A Heritage Impact Assessment [2] (ENA10084) and Geophysical Survey [3] (ENA10085) were commissioned in 2021 over the southern most area of the farmland either side of the River Aller, including this site. These were undertaken to assess the impact of "Stage 0 river restoration" project that aims to restore natural processes to a length of the River Aller as it flows northwest. The Geophysical Survey identfied numerous anomalies but did not identify obviously significant archaeological remains. Further archaeological mitigation is probably not warranted for this site, given the nature of the results and the proposed development. [2-3]
