Summary

A Bronze Age cairn (12m in diameter) which is part of the group running east from Selworthy Beacon. The two mounds either side are spoil heaps either side from the centre of the cairn which now has a central depression 1.2m deep.

Description

a Bronze Age cairn which is part of the group running east from Selworthy Beacon.It is a stony mound, covered with gorse and heather, it is 12m diameter and 1.1m high. The centre of the cairn has been dug out leaving a large depression 5.7m diameter and 1.2m deep, this means someone has dug below the original soil level. The spoil has been dumped on the west and east sides. Condition: poor. [1]

The burial cairn was visible on aerial photographs and mapped as part of the Severn Estuary RCZAS project [2]. The circular spoil mound to the west measures about 7 metres in diameter and the mound to east measures 7 metres long by 5 metres wide.
