Summary
: Probably built after 1921 at the same time as the garage complex. First mentioned in a fire insurance schedule dated 12 April 1938, the building was listed as a Coal House and lean-to Lavatory, valued at £100. It was sited just inside the gates to the stable yard against the west wall. At some point before 1954 it stopped being used as a coal store when a fuel pump and an underground fuel tank were installed.Minutes of a meeting in 1985 (Box Wx01:09) state that the structure was disused and had deteriorated and should be demolished. The tank is marked by a manhole cover in the yard and at a meeting in 1989 (Box 04:68) it was stated that the Fire Officer would be asked to recommend how it should be filled in but it is not known whether this was done.
Condition: There is no longer any trace of this building.
