Description

A substantial stone cairn 12 metres long north -south by 8 metres east -west is situated within the area of old field -systems on north -eastern slopes of Butter Hill, almost adjacent to the modern enclosed fields. Its position, on the hillslope, may suggest that it is not a burial cairn but more likely to be associated with field clearance.

The cairn lies between two converging tracks and is becoming overgrown with bracken. The cairn is likely to be associated with field clearance, lying at the edge of the area of relict field banks.
