Description
Remains of a linhay and yard shown on the tithe map and 1888 map as extant and in use. It is now nearly destroyed. The building is built into the E facing slope on the W side of the combe. It is approximately 11 - 12m NW-SE and 4.5 - 5m deep. There is no roof although some slates survive on the ground. The front wall and rear walls have almost completely collapsed. The S wall survives only to half height in one corner. The N wall survives best. The front pillar/return is in courses of slate and lime mortar surviving to a height of 2.5m, and the returns are also good. The rest of the wall behind is of rough rubble stone, and 1 – 2m high built into the rear bank.
The structure is not particularly stable nor stockproof, as a dead sheep lay in one corner at the time of the survey. The widening of the track 100981 above it may have slighted the rear wall of the building. Several small trees now grow within the ruin and will continue to undermine it further.
