Summary
Low, broad bank 1.5-2m wide aligned E-W, marking the line of a boundary shown on the historic maps. Part of the area of banks forming strip fields, probably of medieval origin, and this feature may have been the headland for the strips aligned N-S. Little now remains, except for a large stump of an ash tree, still growing on the low bank.

Description
Low, broad bank 1.5-2m wide aligned E-W, marking the line of a boundary shown on the historic maps. Part of the area of banks forming strip fields, probably of medieval origin, and this feature may have been the headland for the strips aligned N-S. Little now remains, except for a large stump of an ash tree, still growing on the low bank. Recommendations: An important historic boundary which needs to be respected when assessing levels of livestock and grazing pressure. The ash tree is also a relict of the boundary, but is suffering from damage to the bark and exposed roots by sheep, and needs some form of protection or it will be undermined. It is possible the tree could be used for dating evidence if a core could be obtained. [1][2]
