Description
Opencast aligned E-W along a N facing slope, just below the coastal path. The linear trench is 82m long, 10m wide and 2m deep. At the E end is a trial pit 10m diameter and 1.5m deep. It has hawthorn bushes growing in it. The trench is also heavily overgrown. The trench probably originated as a series of pits, and there is another very similar site 30m downslope where the individual pits are more evident.
Recommendations: The site is close to the coastal path as is the other downslope, and therefore potential for drawing attention to these two features as part of the industrial history of the coastal area.
