Description
Towards the northwest end of Marland Lane in part of field O.S. no. 7881 there is an area of ridge and furrow set in a northwest-southeast direction. On either side and to the southwest there is evidence of removed field boundaries, the northern one runs from the pebble ridge to the large oak tree standing, now isolated, but once marking the fieldbanks, in the field. The evidence is not very pronounced but is clear when walking across it. It was found when field walking in 1998. Condition: fair. (1)
The ridge and furrow described above (Source 1) along with other scattered blocks of ridge and furrow were mapped from aerial photographs taken in 1941 and 1946 as part of the Severn Estuary RCZAS mapping project. Futher information and source photographs used available in the Exmoor National Park HER record MMO1452. The other scattered blocks are recorded seperately as MNA199501. (2-3)
