Description
On the 1809-12 Holnicote Estate Survey, Manor of West Luccombe, court and orchard are recorded as b21 under ‘Hardings and Ridlers’ held by Thomas Brown. They were set to the northeast of the present house, and explain the hard ground in the field at this position. They were partly demolished by the time of the 1842 Luccombe Tithe map, the west building and court survived until after 1876, a smaller building on a site to the east is shown on the 1889 O.S. first edition 1:2500 map and all subsequent maps, this was demolished after 1972 and before 1990.
