Summary

The turret of a Covenanter tank possibly used as a "hard target" that was located near the target railway (MNA168310), during the Second World War tank training range.

Description

The turret of a Cruiser tank which was retrieved from a tank which crashed into Henner’s Combe during World War II.It is now on the eastern side of the combe on the enclosed land. Cruisers were used for training purposes after 1942 (P.Isaac, Cobbaton Combat Collection, Barnstaple). Condition: good. [1]

The tank that rolled down into Henners Combe during the war was a Churchill, however the turret found at this location is that of a Covenanter tank. Further information and sources are available in the Exmoor National Park HER record MSO8086. [2]
