Description

[1] These two hillocks with run-in shafts are probably on the line of Engine Sough, a short drainage level dug from Odin Gully, on the other side of the road, to Odin Vein at or near Mam Engine shaft. This sough may well date from 1706-07 and was probably used to drain water pumped from lower levels in Odin Mine in the first half of the 18th century (Rieuwerts 1987).
