Description

An earth mound with internal concrete structure on the West Myne land near the concrete building. The mound is 32m x 26m and is 3.2m high, at the north end are two lengths of wall set north-south, 9.2m long. The walls have different thicknesses at their north and south ends, they are 0.6m thick for 7m of the south end and are 1m thick for 2.2m at the north end. South of these is a bank 3m wide and 0.8m high. Farm rubbish has been tipped against this. Although the function of the site is not clear it is associated with other World War II tank training structures on North Hill. Condition: good. [1]

The Second World War structure was probably used to winch targets for use in the tank training range. It was visible on historical aerial photographs and mapped as part of the Severn Estuary RCZAS mapping project. Further information, sources and photograph references are available in the Exmoor National Park HER record MSO7672. [2]
