Summary

The remnant of a Second World War observation post or target dugout on enclosed land on the west side above Henner’s Combe. Originally encased in a earthwork mound (35 metres by 27 metres) which was subsequently levelled, the brick and concrete walls survive up to 1m high. It was part of the tank training range on Bossington Hill.

Description

The remnant of an observation post on enclosed land on the west side above Henner’s Combe. The brick and concrete walls survive up to 1m high. North of the remains is a mound of demolition rubble 10m x 10m and 1m high. The site was associated with the tank training ranges on North Hill. Condition: good. [1]

The Second World War observation post or target dugout was visible on aerial photographs and mapped as part of the Severn Estuary RCZAS mapping project. The post was defined by an earthen mound measuring 35 metres by 27 metres but was subsequently levelled by 1998 leaving a roofless brick and conrete building.
