Description

A working grist mill, double overshot known as the Lower Mills at Dunster from at least 1620. The site originated in the medieval period and may be a mill mentioned in Domesday book in 1086 Grade II* listed is stone built on the north bank of the River Avill below Dunster Castle. Two timber water wheels side by side. In the 18th century one of the mills may have been converted to a tucking mill. Details of the building and machinery are found in Martin Watts report of 2001.
