Description
A length of terraced track/path running diagonally SSE-NNW down into, and across Kipscombe combe. The SSE part forms a steady gradient from the SW edge of field 160 running down into the combe. The track is about 35m long and 1.5 – 2m wide, and well constructed. There may have been deliberately constructed ford across the stream, but the path is eroded here. The NNW section survives less well. It is terraced along the side of the combe below the field boundary. The revetment wall has collapsed in a number of places, and the path is only 1 – 1.5m wide. This section is about 30m long and at the N end may connect to another track that crosses the combe below the old linhay. Alternatively, it is possible this track was superseded by the larger track (016) below the linhay. There are two ash pollards at the N end.
This is a well-built track/path, and may date to the eighteenth century or earlier.
