Description
Holloway of uneven width winding N uphill from behind the farm buildings. It is a natural gully, made wider and deeper by use and water draining down it. The holloway is wide but overgrown at the lower end, narrowing as it climbs the hill, with thick vegetation on either side. The map evidence shows an irregular width in places, which may suggest the upper end has been gradually extended as further land was enclosed on either side, and formal field boundaries established.
It is a public footpath, and may be one of the original routes taken by the tenants of Combe Martin to the former Common land on Hangman Hill.
