Description
Linear opencast lies across a north facing slope. 82m, east west 10m wide 2m deep at east end, 10m away, is a trial pit c10m diameter, 1.5m deep. Apparently originated as a series of pits which eventually connected to form a trench.
Opencast 76m long, 10m wide and 1.5 –2m deep, 30m downhill and parallel to MNA148428. Consists of about seven to eight pits of various sizes strung along the contour. Less overgrown than the above site. The site is not shown on the historic maps.
Recommendations: Possibility of using this site and one upslope for visitors to see, given condition and proximity to the footpath.
