Description

Mine workings shown but not annotated on OS 1887 map considered by Claughton to be associated with 19th century Girt Down mine sett. A small openwork visible on steep coastal slopes. An adit lies to the east side of an overgrown track and consists of a rock cut gulley 26m east-west by 7m. There is a spoil heap to the immediate north west, 20m diameter, and a smaller one 40m to west about 10m diameter. Both obscured by heather and gorse (RCHME).

Mine workings located on steep slopes. Quarry 26m E-W x 7m x 3m deep on upslope side. The associated spoilheap lies to the NW, approx. 20m diameter. The quarry is heavily overgrown. The line of a former trackway to the Rawns runs NE around the contour between the spoilheap and quarry. The features are shown on the historic maps as is another spoilheap to the W, not located.
