Description
The hillside to the W of the smelting-house is covered by large quantities of slag, more than are usually found at sites of this kid. It is possible that because of poor access little slag was removed from Froggatt for re-smelting, after the abandonment of the smelting-house. The slag consists of both the heavy black material produced at ore-hearths and the lighter-coloured lower- density residue from slag-hearths. To the S of the tail-race a fragment of a stone pig-mound lies on the slag.
