Description
Remains of a scarp aligned approximately ENE-WSW in field 703 immediately E of West Challacombe Farm. It is aligned on the existing entrance gate and track. Length 45m, 1m wide x 0.6m high. Probably represents the rear bank of a slightly terraced access track that ran E across the field from the farm. The current track is slightly downhill. It is possible the feature relates to pre-C19 subdivision of the field, but nothing is shown on the historic maps. Recommendations: None, except that if possible wheeled vehicles should try and avoid this feature. [1]
Visible as an earthwork on 2022 lidar imagery. [2]
